The Netherlands Grand Prix has been rated as the number one for fan experience in the 2025 calendar, according to research from Joe Fortune.
The research also revealed that the Australian Grand Prix is the second-best in the calendar to visit as a fan, while at the bottom of the table are Azerbaijan, Abu Dhabi and Las Vegas.
The F1 Fan Experience Index ranks race weekends based on five different criteria, including ticket price, atmosphere, and transport links to give a definitive answer to which Grand Prix delivers the best experience for racegoing fans.
Each race weekend is given a standardised score out of 20 in each of the five respective categories, which are then added together to give a total index score out of 100. A higher score denotes that a race offers a better experience than a lower score.
Leading the pack with a score of 70.06 is the Netherlands, while Australia is not far behind in second place with an index score of 68.94. Rounding off the podium places is the British Grand Prix at Silverstone, which scored 68.5 out of 100 in the index.
Just missing out on a spot in the top three, but still offering a good time for motor racing fans, are Brazil, Singapore, and Canada – all of which have a score within 2.44 index points of the British Grand Prix in third.
At the other end of the fan experience table is the rock-bottom Azerbaijan Grand Prix, closely followed by the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in second-bottom – both of which have index scores within 0.19 of one another.
The Las Vegas Grand Prix takes third-bottom in the index, with a score of 52.06 – 3.46 above second-bottom. Japan, Miami and Qatar, meanwhile, are the three races directly above the bottom three, all with index scores separated by just 1.48.
How does the F1 Fan Experience Index work?

- To achieve this, all 24 of the 2025 Grand Prixs have been ranked based on five criteria with the aim of finding the best.
- Those criteria are:
– Affordability: This equates to the amount it would cost on average to buy a ticket for each respective race weekend, with the cheaper tickets being a higher ranking.
– Transport links: This is based on the amount of airports and train stations within a one-hour drive of the circuit.
– Fan rating: Using TripAdvisor and Yelp, this criteria ranks each Grand Prix based on the previous scores given to it by previous visitors.
– Atmosphere: Nobody wants to spend a significant amount of money going somewhere for it to feel stale and have no life. This criteria ranks the Grand Prixs based on their most recent weekend attendance.
– Weather: Simply put, outdoor events and bad weather don’t mix well. Each venue in this category is ranked on the average temperature in the month that the race is held.
- After each Grand Prix is ranked, they are given a standardised score out of 20 within each category based on the respective result.
- Each category score is then added together for each respective Grand Prix, which is then given a total index score out of 100.
- The Grand Prixs are then ranked according to their index scores, to see which gives the best fan experience.
