The Fortune Feed: Liverpool Win The Premier League But Everton Hijack The Party

Liverpool claimed its 20th EPL title at Anfield, but local neighbours and rivals Everton just had to hijack the party…more on that later! In Sunday Footy the Wests Tigers edged out the Sharks in a thriller at Leichhardt Oval, there’s been a bit going on! So, who better to bring you the latest trending topics, Aussie sports news, and the hottest entertainment updates than your mates at Joe Fortune

Tint of Blue in Reds’ Premier League Celebrations

Liverpool has done it; the Reds have won a 20th EPL title and now sits level with rivals Manchester United with the most wins in the tournament. For the thousands of Aussies who support Liverpool this season’s win has come as a surprise given that head coach Jurgen Klopp left and was replaced by Arne Slot at the end of its last campaign.

Liverpool turned on the style, coming from behind to smash Spurs 5-1. Despite only needing a draw to win the title Liverpool went full throttle. Things got off to a shaky start when Dominic Solanke put Spurs ahead in the 12th minute, but it didn’t take long for Liverpool to hit back. Luis Diaz tapped in the equaliser, Alexis Mac Allister smacked home a rocket, and Cody Gakpo then added a third.

After half-time, it was one-way traffic as Mo Salah broke his six-game goal drought, drilling one past Tottenham’s keeper Vicario. Things went from bad to worse for the London team when Udogie poked one into his own net, capping off a shocking afternoon for the visitors. For Liverpool, though, it was a perfect day to celebrate in front of a buzzing Anfield crowd.

As celebrations unfolded a sea of red flags, scarves and flares could be seen. But there was to be a twist in the tale as a fan of local city rivals Everton had ordered thousands of blue coloured pyros and listed them for sale as red in the hope that Liverpool fans would order them… and lo and behold as celebrations were taking place at Anfield unaware Liverpool fans began to let off blue coloured pyros, the colour of local rivals Everton!

Meanwhile for Tottenham and head coach Ange Postecoglou that’s now 19 losses in the EPL this season, disappointing stuff. Their season now rests on Spurs winning the Europa League, but even this might not be enough to save the Aussie from being sacked.

Tigers Shock Sharks

The Tigers roared and stood firm under immense pressure. The match was summed up by the recalled Lachlan Galvin’s vital last-minute tackle in regular time. Wests 20-18 golden point win over the Sharks eased up the recent drama around Galvin’s refusal to sign a contract and pushed the side closer to the top eight.

Coach Benji Marshall said it was a season-defining moment and was very proud of his team’s effort. Adam Doueihi sealed the win during the second half of extra time as in the 88th minute with a kicked penalty after Hazleton was blown up for a late hit on Fonua Pole. Over in the AFL, the Hawks inflicted more pain on West Coast as Hawthorn won 124 (18.16) to 74 (11.8) leaving the WA side pointless at the bottom of the ladder.
