The 2025 NRL season is done and dusted, and what a ride it was. We saw some massive performances, a few surprises, and plenty of young talent stepping up. But you know how it goes – one season ends and everyone’s already talking about the next.
So, I thought I’d jump in early with a few calls for 2026. Some teams are on the rise, some have a point to prove, and a few players are ready to explode. And yeah, I’ll say it now – I reckon the Brisbane Broncos are going back-to-back! Let’s go boys!
The Broncos Are Primed for Another Title
I’m calling it early – the Broncos are going to defend their crown. This squad is built for it. With guys like Payne Haas, Reece Walsh, and Ezra Mam leading the way, they’ve got the perfect mix of experience, flair, and hunger. Add in young guns like Tom Duffy and Blake Mozer, and you can see why I’m confident.
Every other club will be coming for them, but I reckon this team thrives under that kind of pressure. The younger boys have grown so much – they’re hungry and ready to step up. And with the leadership we’ve got, there’s no reason the Broncos can’t go all the way again.
Key Players to Watch in 2026
James Tedesco (Sydney Roosters)
Teddy keeps proving why he’s one of the best in the NRL. Every season, he finds another gear. The bloke leads from the front and never takes a backward step. You can see how much the Sydney Roosters lift when he’s on the field – he just sets the tone.
Nathan Cleary (Penrith Panthers)
No surprises here. Nathan Cleary just keeps showing why he’s one of the best halves in rugby league. His control, his kicking, and his game management are unreal. When Cleary’s on, the Penrith Panthers look almost untouchable.
Reece Walsh (Brisbane Broncos)
You knew I had to mention my boy Reece Walsh. This kid is electric. Every time he touches the ball, something’s about to happen. He’s grown so much over the past couple of seasons – still has that spark, but now he’s got the maturity to match. The Broncos have a genuine superstar here.
Isaiya Katoa (Dolphins)
How good’s this young fella? Calm, confident, and playing well beyond his years. He makes smart calls, stays cool under pressure, and is already one of the best young playmakers in the NRL. The Dolphins have struck gold.
Robert Toia (Sydney Roosters)
Robert Toia had an unreal debut season. He looked like he belonged from the moment he ran out. The Dally M Rookie of the Year – and deservedly so.
Leka Halasima (New Zealand Warriors)
This kid is a machine. Young, tough, and full of energy. The New Zealand Warriors have always had that never-give-up attitude, and Leka Halasima fits that perfectly. He’s still raw, but that’s what makes him so exciting to watch. The future’s bright for this one.
Teams to Watch (But Don’t Get Too Comfortable)
I’m all in on the Broncos, but let’s be real – there’s no easy games in this comp. The Penrith Panthers and Melbourne Storm are always dangerous. They’ve got that consistency and experience that keeps them right in the mix.
Keep an eye on the Canberra Raiders, too. They’ve got a solid squad and can do some real damage if they find form. And don’t sleep on the Cronulla Sharks – they’ve got plenty of talent and if they put it together, they’ll be hard to stop.
Rising Stars: The Future Looks Bright

2026 feels like the year for the next generation. Isaiya Katoa from the Dolphins is one to watch – he’s got “future Dally M” written all over him. And Ethan Strange from the Raiders looks ready to make a name for himself, too.
And of course, the Broncos have their own future stars. I’m pumped to see what Blake Mozer and Tom Duffy bring this season. They’re hungry, talented, and have that edge you want in young players. The future of the club is in good hands.
Why 2026 Is Going to Be Special
I can’t wait for the 2026 NRL season to kick off. There are some massive games coming up, a few big rivalries brewing, and plenty of storylines that’ll make this year one to watch. Every club’s going to come out firing, and that’s what makes this comp so good – no easy games anymore.
We’ve got world-class talent across the board, young guns ready to take the next step, and a few players out to prove a point. You just know we’re in for some cracking footy.
Final Thoughts: The Broncos Are Built for the Win
I’ll say it again – the Broncos are built for success. With the core we’ve got, the leadership that’s been developed, and the hunger of the younger boys, everything’s lining up for another big year. We’ve got the passion, the belief, and the squad to make it happen.
So, while every team will be coming for us, I’m backing my boys to stand tall. Broncos fans, get ready. 2026 is going to be another massive season. I can feel it – we’re bringing that title home again.
